Our goals are to educate with truth, suggest opportunities to join in our efforts, and to explore new ideas that will unite rather that divide us.

This little book was never on my summer reading list.
But here we are, two years in, and further from the democracy of our Constitution than we have ever been as a nation. On Tyranny is a guiding light.

We Are All
on the Decoy
Plane

I keep thinking about Trump’s plane. The gleaming jet, the gold fittings, the family name down the side. It climbs above the rest of us, safe and untouchable, while the country below, all of us, are feeling the pinch - forced to endure rising costs and greater financial burdens. Who can forget when Trump said it himself, “I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation. I don’t think about anybody.” (USA Today reporting, May 2026)
That is what his policies feel like to me. The deals that are inflating his and his family’s fortune, financial ventures that turn the presidency into an unprecedented revenue stream. According to the New York Times (July 23, 2026) Trump has accrued a staggering $2.24 BILLION in 2025. This is all happening while everyday people, the rest of us, absorb the losses.
Folks, we are on the Trump administration’s decoy plane.
We are being told that the economic challenges we are experiencing are not real, while Trump’s personal gain slips through untouched and unchallenged. AARP (2026) reported that in 2026, grocery prices are anticipated to rise 3.2%, which is a significant increase from the twenty-year average of 2.6%. Home energy costs have already risen 7.4%, according to recent CNN reporting and the same report directly cites the Trump administration's energy policies as the cause.
Believe your eyes.
How have you been impacted by the ever-increasing cost of daily life expenses? The cost of gas? Groceries? Your electric bill?
Democracy is supposed to mean no one is expendable. I still believe that. But belief isn’t enough at this altitude. We have to refuse to keep flying on Trump’s decoy plane.

But the ballroom must be built.
This administration’s “priorities” have left D.C. in shambles. From the debacle of the Reflecting Pool, to the devastated landscape of the White House complex, visitors are greeted with fences, tarps covering building facades,
authoritarian style headshot banners, and the National Guard bearing guns.
History will not be able to ignore the vanity projects he leaves behind, but will mostly judge and remember him by the millions of citizens whose lives have been devastated by his policies.
